NEWS

Debra and Mary returned from Hungary, and the ICS, just over a year ago in June 2010.  Since then she has re-built and reorganized her studio, written an article about the International Ceramics Studio in Hungary that was published in the November Technical Magazine, and had an exhibition, Midnight in the Nursery, with Marcia Pitch, curated by Gabriel Solti, at the Port Moody Arts Centre in October. In December Debra, Linda Lewis and Jinny Whitehead wrote a grant for the BC Potters Guild Archives, which received an encouraging no and is being re-written this year. She has continued to teach at the Shadbolt, and was a presenter at the 5th Masters Symposium in Parksvillle in March 2011.

Debra has had pieces accepted in the Third International Exhibition of the Silicate Arts, in Hungary,  in Fusion’s 2011 Fireworks traveling exhibition in Ontario, and in the BC In a Box, another traveling exhibition in 2011/12. She will also have some work in an exhibition on Bowen Island this summer.  Debra has started to prepare for the From Oven to Kiln, the NWCF fundraising auction dinner spring 2012.

Debra and Mary have just acquired a gas kiln, and look forward to this new facility!  They have started their application for another residency at the ICS in the fall of 2012, and Debra will also be applying for an exhibition in Budapest. Meanwhile she and her husband are enduring an extensive renovation of their 80 year old home.
